To Obtain a Passport You Will Need:

•  2 identical passport photos. These must have been taken in the
  last 6 months & have a light background. Photos should be
  colored. School pictures are acceptable IF they are recent, the background is light & they meet the size requirements.
  
• A check made out to PASSPORT SERVICES in the amount of $67.00 for anyone 16 & older, or $52.00 for anyone 15 & under. Separate checks for each application please.
  
•  A $30.00 fee per passport in our office. This can either be cash or a check made out to the Cassia County Recorder. We can accept 1 check for several applications here in our office.
  
• STATE CERTIFIED COPY OF YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE. This must have a raised, State Seal on it. Hospital Certificates & Birth Abstracts are not acceptable. If you are a Naturalized Citizen you must present us with
  your Original Naturalization Papers.
• We have to identify ALL APPLICANTS & you must present your CURRENT Drivers License or some other form of secondary identification. Everyone needs to come in in-person.
  
• If a child is under 18 we need to have one parents signature.
• If a child is under 14 we must have both parents consent.

Applications should be filled out by the applicant unless it is a small Child.

Apply Early
Passports take approximately 6 weeks from the time you apply here.
These can be expedited for an additional fee if necessary.

A regular expedite takes approximately 7 to 10 working days. If you need it sooner than this we can get them in about 5 days by sending a copy of your Airline ticket or your Travel Itinerary showing a departure date of 14 days or less.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Question: If I send my original Birth Certificate along with my Passport Application, is it returned?
Answer: Yes.

Question: Is a hospital Birth Certificate acceptable?
Answer: No. Only a State-Issued Certified Copy or original Birth Certificate is accepted.

Question: How long does it take to receive my passport?
Answer: You will receive your passport in four (4) to six (6) working weeks. An expedited passport will take two (2) to three (3) working weeks. Overnight service must be handled by the U. S. Post Office.

Question: How many years is my passport valid?
Answer: If you are under the age of sixteen (16), your passport will be valid for five (5) years. Sixteen (16) years and older, the passport is valid for ten (10) years.Does your office do renewals?
Cassia County does supply renewal applications; however, we do not process them.

Question: Where can I get my picture taken?
Answer: Please refer to the Yellow Pages under "Photographers" for services.

Question: How long do I have to renew my passport after it expires?
Answer: There is a five (5) year period that renewal by mail is accepted. After that time period, you must reapply.

Question: Can I sign my application before I bring it in?
Answer: No. The application must be signed in the presence of an authorized passport clerk.

Question: If my children are applying for a passport, what must they do?
Answer: If the child is under fourteen (14) years of age, we must have both parents consent. Everyone must appear in person.
