The Cassia County Board
of Commissioners held a special meeting this day at Conner’s Café,
350 Hwy 27 South, Paul, Idaho, for a meeting with area county
commissioners. Chairman Dennis Crane, Paul Christensen and Clay D.
Handy, Board Members; Alfred E. Barrus, Prosecuting Attorney; Kerry
D. McMurray, County Administrator, and Susan Keck, Deputy Clerk,
were present from Cassia County.
INTRODUCTIONS
Clay Handy called the
meeting to order at 11:45 A.M., with introductions taking place of
those in attendance.
REVIEW AND
DISCUSSION OF PROPOSED CORRIDOR
The group reviewed designated entry
and exit points on county borders. A roll call vote was given to
approve the entry and exit points as indicated on the map, with
Bannock County voting yea, Oneida County voting yea, Power County
voting yea, Twin Falls County voting yea, and Cassia County voting
yea. Idaho Power representative Doug Dockter and Rocky Mountain
Power representative Glenn Pond provided comment and answered
questions. Mr. Jerry Mason, Attorney at Law, provided comments and
answered questions from the group regarding county authority to
regulate. Additional discussion occurred regarding land owner
negotiations with utility companies, and policies and ordinance
updates relating to transmission corridors.
RECESS
Meeting was recessed until Cassia
County Commission’s next regularly scheduled public meeting at 9:00
a.m., Monday, August 31, 2009.
