COMMISSIONER MINUTES

| The Cassia County Board of Commissioners came out of
recess from Monday, February 9, 2009’s regular meeting, this day
with Chairman Dennis Crane, Paul Christensen and Clay D. Handy,
Board Members; Alfred E. Barrus, Prosecuting Attorney; Larry
Mickelsen, Clerk of the Board, and Kerry D. McMurray, County
Administrator, present. |
BUILDING SECURITY
The Board met with
Sheriff Randy Kidd to discuss the proposed plans of the Sheriff to
enhance the security of the Courthouse and the Sheriff’s Office.
In the Courthouse, he proposes to have a locking
mechanism that will record who and when they opened the lock with
their “fob or card.” These fobs or cards will be programmed to only
allow access during certain times/days, depending upon the holder of
the device and their responsibilities/needs. There will be 2 or 3
doors for public access that will be open during the normal business
hours of the Courthouse. Sheriff Kidd discussed the proposed
security measures for the Administrative Office, Treasurers, Court
Clerks, and Recorders Office, to include camera coverage for the
hallways/stairways. He discussed the proposed security measures for
the Courtrooms and Judges Chambers.
For the
Sheriff’s Office, he discussed the proposed walls with doors for
access control and the locking mechanisms that will be installed. He
explained his plans for proper usage of space for the storage of
records and evidence. The Commissioners approved the Sheriff’s
efforts and authorized him to begin the projects in the Sheriff’s
Office, using the ‘06 Homeland Security monies that are still
available for a limited time. Matters pertaining to the Courthouse
are still under review, although any project mutually agreed to by
the proper department head and the sheriff may move forward.
General projects for the courthouse will be further reviewed and
discussed. |
