If you need to contact the Elections Department the best way is through email.

    1. Email is always the best way to communicate through: vote@cassiacounty.org for the following reasons:
      1. Provides documentation for time and content of all requests and responses
      2. Telephone messages require considerable time and resources to both listen to and respond to in a timely manner
      3. Fax messages can be disrupted when transmitted, may not be retrieved timely, are ofttimes illegible or not even received
      4. Personal impromptu appearance to the Cassia County Courthouse Elections department may be at a time that a member of the Elections department may not be available due to other duties.

Voter Registration Questions

​​​​​​ You can register online at idahovotes.gov

​​​​​ You can fill out a Registration Card and email it to votes@cassiacounty.org. If you email your registration you will need to provide a copy of proper identification as it is required prior to issuance of a ballot.

      1. A current and valid photo identification; and
      2. A copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document that shows the name and address of the voter. [§34-410, Idaho Code]

    1. You can mail the completed Registration Card to Cassia County Courthouse 1459 Overland Ave Room 105 Burley, ID 83318
      1. If you mail your registration you will need to provide a copy of proper identification as it is required prior to issuance of a ballot.

    1. In order to register and vote on Election Day you must:
      1. Appear in person
      2. Prove residence for purposes of registering by:
        1. Showing an Idaho driver’s license or Idaho identification card issued through the department of transportation (with current address on it); or
        2. A copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document that shows the name and address of the voter and a picture identification card; or
        3. Showing a current valid student photo identification card from a postsecondary educational institution in Idaho accompanied with a current student fee statement that contains the student’s valid address in the precinct.

Absentee Ballot Voting Questions

    1. You must be registered to vote before you can submit an Absentee ballot request. You can send in both forms at the same time.[§34-1001, Idaho Code]
    2. Fill out the Absentee Ballot Application. [§34-1002, Idaho Code]
      1. You can submit your request online at this state website: Idahovotes.gov
      2. You can fill out and sign the Absentee Request Form then email it to vote@cassiacounty.org
      3. If you need us to, we can mail you an absentee ballot request just call us at 208-878-5240.

​​​​ Applications must be received by the county clerk by 5:00 p.m. on the eleventh day before the election [§34-1002(7), Idaho Code]

​​ County clerks must mail absentee ballots — to voters who have requested absentee ballots — 45 days before the election. [§34-1003(3), Idaho Code]

​​ As soon as you get your ballot you can return it.

    1. You can mail it back in the provided return envelope.
    2. There is a drop box in the southside entrance of Cassia County Courthouse (1459 Overland Ave Burley, ID 83318). It is under surveillance so it is secure.

Early Voting Questions

    1. Early voting shall begin on or before the third Monday before the election and end at 5:00 p.m. on the Friday before the election. [§34-1012]
    2. When there is Early Voting it is open Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    1. Persons convicted of felonies in Idaho or other states or jurisdictions shall be allowed to register and vote in Idaho upon final discharge which means satisfactory completion of imprisonment, probation and parole as the case may be. [§34-1003(3,4), Idaho Code]
    1. The ballot shall be mailed no sooner than twenty-four (24) days prior to the election day and no later than the fourteenth day prior to the election. [§34-308(3)]
